Kids’ Event

Dates for 2012:  Wednesday, June 6 & Wednesday, July 11
The Carolina Cycling Time Trial Association and Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) are pleased to host two very special Kids’ Fun Rides this summer on June 6 and July 11.  The special rides will be held at CMS, in Concord, NC, and will enable the kids to ride on the Legends part of the NASCAR track.

Start Time & Registration:  Pre-registration is NOT needed nor is it available. Registration onsite for the Kids’ Fun Ride is located on Pit Road near the Start Line, and begins at approximately 5:00 pm on June 6 and July 11, just prior to the main 10 mile time trial events. There is a $5 charge for each child.  The event itself will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m.

To save time at check-in, please print, complete, and bring the Kids’ Event Registration Form for June 6 or the Kids’ Event Registration Form for July 11.

Event Description:  For this special Kids’ Fun Ride, the children are grouped in two categories, ages 4-10 and 11-15. Each group will have the opportunity to ride the 3/8-mile Legends Track for approximately 10 minutes. Don’t worry, Mom & Dad, the kids will be in sight at all times.  After both groups of kids are finished with their rides, all of the children will go to the CMS Winner’s Circle to receive a special cycling commemorative medal and an opportunity to have their pictures taken in the Speedway’s place of honor.

Here’s your child’s chance to ride his or her bike at the Speedway; something that will be remembered for many years. This event is open to all children.  Bring your kids and their friends for this special ride.

Requirements for Participation:  All riders must have a safe bike and wear a helmet, and a parent or legal guardian must sign the consent and waiver agreement before the child may participate.

Requirements for main 10-mile event:  Children at least ten years of age and with sufficient cycling experience and the ability to ride the full 10-mile time trial may participate in the main event rather than the Kids’ Fun Ride.  A parent or guardian is solely responsible for determining if the child has the ability to ride the full 10-mile event without weaving excessively, slowing too much, stopping, or otherwise being a danger to themselves or others on the track.  If your child meets these requirements and wants to ride the main TT event, you must register him or her online in advance to receive the special youth rate.
